Cultural Literacy and Awareness as 21st Century Skills
Cultural awareness can also be considered part of the 21st century skill set. The following image from the World Economic Forum (2016) includes cultural literacy and awareness as 21st century skills.
What does our school vision show us.

School vision
cognitive, behavioural and emotional behaviour.
levels of engagement- high attention, low attention, no attention or diverted attention.
How are we going to measure engagement and are there other types of engagement.

I enjoyed the kahoot- it was fun, competing, challenging. I might try it in my class.

Agency- having an agency does it mean to opt out. Agency can allow freedom but it can also allow students to not be involved and let them do their own learning.

Inquiry based learning- Wesley college model. Teacher Inquiry. Things to do at each stage: Getting Hooked Introduce a scenario where a major problem or issue needs to be tackled.  Ensure that the problem/issue is set in a real-life/authentic context.  “We must help solve this problem because…” Stress the urgent nature and importance of the children’s learning showing how their input could make a difference.  The children will also need to know who their information is for so they can incorporate their audience’s needs in their final presentation.   An achievement rubric should be developed here (with the class) outlining all levels of achievement—the children can then set their own goals for this task.  The widespread use of technology in education brings challenge to the teaching profession. Although the use of internet, laptops, tablets and ipads bring many benefits for our students, they also bring challenges and risks for students and schools (Ministry of Education, 2015). The overall objective for schools is to provide safe and responsible use of digital technology. In New Zealand, the Ministry of education has issued a  guide for schools to support schools in the management of safe and responsible use of  digital technology for learning. I had difficulty thinking of a dilemma  that I was ever involved in for the following reasons: At my school when a child enrols, we get the parents to sign a digital technology consent form explaining that their child' s work, pictures or video may be used for publishing , school facebook or to share with others.
